After graduating college, her passion shifted to writing, working mostly in contemporary fiction. Her work has been published in various online literary magazines, and she is currently working on her third novel. She enjoys helping others gain confidence in their abilities, and she loves encouraging students to read and write about topics that interest them.

Vanessa Perales

Education: AA

Vanessa is a book lover who is running out of space in the small bookshelf that her dad made for her. She loves to write and aspires to publish her own book one day, but right now she’s busy trying to figure out how life works as an adult. She’s a bit shy, so if you really want to get her talking you should ask her about anime or if she thinks Pluto is a planet or not. Dog lover and insect hater, Vanessa’s goal as a tutor is to help students feel proud of their writing and tell them that in order to improve, it just takes practice.

Cameron Viechnicki

Specialties: Conceptualization, Brainstorming, Argument, Research Essays, Composition

Education: BA in English from University of Houston

As much if not more of a music lover as a reading lover, Cameron is a writing coach with a particular enjoyment for argument. Working out each detail of their point of view and double checking every bit of information to create the best work possible. There's nothing quite like organizing and writing a good argument. However, literature isn't everything to Cameron as they enjoy digging for new underground or undiscovered electronica or pop rock music to enjoy and share with friends. Also, of course, who would someone who loves literature be if they didn't also enjoy quality cinema. War dramas, psychological thrillers, and the occasional feel-good comedy or Disney flick are their A list, go-to genres for a nice movie evening. The most important thing to Cameron when it comes to coaching is making sure you walk out of a session feeling like you really learned something, and of course with a definitive plan of action or reassurance about the assignment in question!
