How to Watch

The calendar below contains a full listing of workshops hosted this semester. Each entry provides a brief description and a link to join. You can watch the workshops as many times as you like. And if you have any questions, you can visit our Academic Coaching areas to work with a coach for help with that subject!

At the end of each workshop is a short, simple quiz to verify that you watched the video. If your instructor gives credit for attendance, then you can screenshot your results for verification.

To attend a workshop:

  1. Find which workshop you'd like to attend on the calendar below.
  2. Open or copy the link and bookmark it for later use.
  3. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the presentation. We hope you learn a lot!
  4. At the end of the video, take the short quiz and screenshot your results to verify that you watched the entire video.

Workshop: Master Your Class Lecture Series

Dates, Times and Location: Refer to the flyer below.

Description: The series of workshops equips students with essential academic skills to enhance their college experience.

Academic Vocabulary: Understanding how Latin and Greek based prefixes, suffixes, and root words form the foundation of the academic language used in most college texts.  Learn a few basic word parts and watch your vocabulary expand.

Notetaking Techniques: Paraphrasing is much more than just rearranging the words in someone else's sentence. Understand what paraphrasing is and isn't, and why it is important for summarizing and notetaking in your college classes.

How to Read a Textbook: Understand that textbooks are organized in specific ways to help with comprehending and learning new information. Learn the clues to look for when reading your class text.

 

 

 

 

 

Workshop: TSI Preparation Workshop

Description: Join us for an interactive workshop to learn fundamentals in Math for all prospective Lone Star College-University Park students taking the TSI test. Topics will include basic algebraic operations, laws of integer exponents, and factoring, to name a few.

Lone Star College students taking the TSI are welcome to visit our TSI Math Preparation website for more resources and sample questions for review. Come and attend the workshop to get prepared for the TSI test!
