About APA Style: Fast Facts

Announcement! APA will be releasing a new edition (the 7th) in October 2019!

We'll continue to use the 6th edition for the entirety of the fall 2019 semester and adopt the 7th edition for spring 2020.

  • APA = American Psychological Association, a professional society for psychology and the governing body of APA Style.
  • A proper APA paper has 4 pages minimum: title page, abstract, the paper, and the references.
  • Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced everywhere, including in the running head.

Basic APA Citation Anatomy:

References Page

Author Last Name, First Initial. Year Published. Article titled capitalized like a sentence. Name of Journal, volume(issue), page range. DOI number/URL
