The information available on topics for this assignment are immense. Although, this guide gives you many choices, don't become overwhelmed. Find a few good sources. Evaluate those sources for quality and credibility. TIP: The databases under the main Finding Information tab will provide citation tools at a click of a mouse. The specific sources on this page (Web Sources) will be very on topic, very relevant to the area you have chosen to explore.

Evaluate the Web

Critically evaluate information you find on the Internet. Consider the 5 W's:
  • Who wrote the web pages and are they an authority?
  • What is the purpose of the site. Look to the domain for a clue about purpose (.gov,.com, .edu)
  • When was the site created and updated? Current?
  • Where does the information come from? (publisher or sponsor)
  • Why is this information useful - is it relevant to my research?
