We host a variety of events featuring students, faculty and professional guests. Each semester, our students showcase their work with performances in the department’s Black Box Theatre, a flexible space that offers an intimate setting for theatrical productions, musical performances and more.

The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts is home to several resident performance series and other exceptional companies providing exceptional and diverse entertainment.

The Alley Theatre, one of America’s leading nonprofit theatres, is a nationally recognized performing arts company led by Artistic Director Rob Melrose and Managing Director Dean R. Gladden. The Alley produces up to 16 plays each year in its newly renovated Theatre, ranging from the best current work, to re-invigorated classic plays, to new plays by contemporary writers.

The Ensemble Theatre was founded in 1976 by the late George Hawkins to preserve African American artistic expression and enlighten, entertain and enrich a diverse community.

The mission of Match is to be the premier performance venue for the Houston region’s small and mid-sized arts organizations and the leading destination in the region for audiences to experience a broad spectrum of the arts.

Houston’s Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park is unique in the United States, offering an eight-month season of professional entertainment that is artistically excellent, culturally diverse and always FREE of charge to the public. This is the largest “always free” program of its kind in the country.

With the desire to bring a new theatrical experience to Houston and to contribute to the future of the art form, Queensbury Theatre strives to produce, create and cultivate professional, ground-breaking, and affordable musicals and plays on an intimate level.
Queensbury Theatre houses and operates the Tribble School for the Performing Arts, a program which serves 350-400 students and their families per semester.

Stages' acute focus on artist development has created a theatre that leads nationally in the advancement of artists and practitioners, creating a greenhouse for the development of emerging talent and new work. Our resources are dedicated to lifting up artists and supporting a diverse, thriving arts community for Houston, one of the world's greatest cities.
