Blaire and Arcelia - our library winners!

Arcelia Macedo, Specialist IV and head of the circulation/front desk area of the library within the Student Learning Resource Center, was one of the campus's full time staff excellence winners. Librarian Blaire Hiebsch was the campus selection for the part-time staff category.

Acrelia has been with our library from the very beginning and is an essential person to making the library work! She has the special touch to build a strong rapport with her team (another full-time specialist, plus part-time staff and student workers) and provides excellent customer service to our patrons. She's been growing her skills by shadowing our business manager this year.

Blaire has been with us three years and still impresses us! She's a self-starting go-getter who's eager to learn, to participate, and to create. She's capable of handling anything and everything we've thrown at her. She started a series of Creative Writing workshops during the fully-remote period of the pandemic, and she's quick to develop research guides to support our courses (like the new Social Work programs) and diversity (like the Women's History Month guide).

We're so proud of both of them and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next. Congratulations to them both!

The Lone Star College Excellence Awards are an annual event. Employees are nominated by their peers and winners are chosen by a committee on the strength of those nominations. Each campus selects several faculty, adjuncts, and staff, as well as a single part-time staff member.

Previous SLRC employees to receive Excellence awards include: Stephanie DeLeon (Library), Elaine Patton (Library), Leasha May (AT Lab), Sibgha Khan (Library).
