Grammarly

LSC-University Park students have access to a premium Grammarly subscription for free! Grammarly is a writing-enhancement platform to assist you in improving your grammar and writing abilities.

Create Your Grammarly Account

  1. Sign up.
    Go to Grammarly.com/edu/signup and complete the short form. You must use your Lone Star College student email address! i.e. [myLoneStar username]@my.lonestar.edu.

    Please include your student ID number in the email: we will be checking your current enrollment status.

  2. Verify.
    After you submit your info, you will have to log in to your email (through myLoneStar) to verify your account.
    At this time, Grammarly will ask you for an access code after you verify your email. Please email uptutor@lonestar.edu or uplibrary-circ@lonestar.edu from your student email account (including your ID number) to receive this.

     
  3. Use it!
    You're ready to start using Grammarly! You can upload documents to your account to get the Grammarly check, and/or you can install plugins and apps to streamline your work.
Note: Grammarly Premium is only available for current Lone Star College-University Park students. We will be checking enrollment status (as in, are you in at least one UP class) before sharing the code. Users found to not be enrolled with our campus will have their accounts deleted. Please let us know if you believe we've made a mistake.

FAQ

If you had a free account using your personal email, just create a separate account using your student address. This may also work if you accidentally created a free-level account with your school address: try following the account set-up steps from scratch.

Unfortunately, there's not a clear method to troubleshoot this situation if neither of the above applies. Contact Kitty.Jordan@LoneStar.edu for account assistance.
When you download a Grammarly-edited document, changes are noted in the comments panel in Word, which can and will print with the rest of your document. To avoid this:
  1. In your Word doc, go to the Review tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Unselect "Show comments."
  3. Where you see "Simple Markup," click this drop-down menu to change it to "No Markup."
We renew Grammarly with the fiscal year, which runs September through August. So long as we keep purchasing it, your Grammarly account will have access to premium features. We will notify users if the subscription comes to an end without renewal.
