The primary sources you use will come from our assigned reader, The Cherokee Removal: A Brief History with Documents, by Theda Purdue. Investigate this material to answer two fundamental questions: (1) Why were American Indians forced to leave their homes?(2) Could the Indian Removal Act and its enforcement be considered crimes against humanity by today’s international legal standards?
