# EDUC 1300: First Year Experience: The SLRC

This guide provides additional resources to support EDUC 1300, and to introduce campus & library resources.

Welcome to the What?!

SLRC stands for Student Learning Resource Center. We are a one-stop shop for many areas of student support! Located in Building 12 on the 8th floor (12.800), the SLRC houses the Library, Coaching, and Assistive Technologies.

The Library at LSC-University Park is not like libraries you may have visited before - there are no shelves of books! We're a digital library, meaning that our focus is on digital resources - ebooks, databases full of journals and magazines, streaming video, and more! Of course, we know you may want a print book, and we make that easy with access to other Lone Star College libraries and our partnerships with Harris County and Montgomery County public libraries. The other tabs on this page have more information about finding and using resources to support your learning.

You can also find more information on our website!

The Coaches are here to help you succeed! With offerings for math, science, writing, and more, our coaching department is ready to make your school year easier. The Writing Lab, located in the SLRC 12.825, offers consultations for writing the very best papers, and ESOL students can benefit from Talk Time (12.830). Math and science students can get one-on-one help from our professionals in the Coaching Center, SLRC 12.801. The Science (12.631) and Math (12.331) Hotspots offer group, peer, and instructor-led coaching.

The Assistive Technology Lab (12.804), is located in the Student Learning Resource Center (SLRC). We provide a variety of services, such as software, reader/scribes, digital recorders or alternately formatted books, to students with a variety of disabilities such as physical, mental, chronic or learning disabilities. Our mission is to empower students who learn differently by providing equal access to higher education.
